A lot of people seem to automatically assume that all furries like yiff art. While it's true that a lot of furries *do* like yiff art and draw/look at it, there are a good number of us who just like drawing plain old anthropomorphic animals, nothing more.
Quite a few people automatically equate furry = perverted sex-crazed basement-dwelling animal screwer. It doesn't really work that way, in my opinion. A furry is just someone who is fond of drawing, roleplaying, writing about, reading about, or looking at anthropomorphic animals. It just means you *like* that particular genre.
There are people who draw porn for and will sexualize anything. Furries get a bad rap because it seems to attract more of the extremist types, the ones with really weird fetishes, or ones that are into some very taboo sexual subjects (yes, pedophilia or "cub art" is one of them). But honestly, we're not all like that!
Me, I just like drawing furry characters. I like drawing animals and like roleplaying humans, so I thought it was a good idea to combine them. I don't yiff, I don't draw porn. All of what I draw is just plain-old anthropomorphic animals. I may have the occasional violent picture with blood in it, but not anything pornographic. If you feel the same and consider your own artwork to be rated "E" for everyone, feel free to add this to your journal. I'd also appreciate it if you left a quick fav and comment so I can check out your page and take a look at your gallery (couldn't hurt, right?), but I guess you don't have to if you really don't want to.

Eee, thanks. I think there are many more "normal" furries out there then we get credit for. It's just the weird ones that are most loud about how they feel.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
