Well, my computer charger cord has finally kicked it. It first started failing around summer last year. You see, there are four "stress points" on the cord... two next to the charging-box-thing, one at the plug, and one where it plugs into the computer. When I was in California one of the points on the box started breaking... the cord was splitting and wires were visible. My dad patched it with electrical tape and rigged it so that it would be less stressed. A few months ago the point where it plugs into the computer started breaking. This point was a lot harder to rig or fix, since it HAS to bend right there. And just in the last few weeks it started making weird spark noises when I wiggled it around. And just in the last few days it stopped working entirely.

So now I have to borrow Duck's charger or rely on battery... which really sucks. The screen is darker, so it's really hard to see the detail in my art. I end up making the textures too strong or the colors too light, and then when I look at it with a lighted screen it looks weird. I hope my comp is under warranty still... it's been less then a year, this thing really shouldn't be breaking so fast. I'm not even that rough with my computer...

I'm also in a bit of an art slump. I'm trying to work though it, but it's hard because I still am a little sick from the remnants of that thing I had a few days after Xmas. Bah.

In actually good news, I got my hands on Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2, which so far has been every bit as good as the original. I'm not very far in it yet (I've had it for about 24 hours only) but it looks like loads of fun. I haven't had a video game that I could really get obsessed over for a long time, especially not a "new" one. It's good to know that Nintendo and the rest can still make addictive games that live up to my weird gaming standards.

So, if you don't feel like comforting me for the millionth time while I whine about not feeling well, how about this: What's your favorite games? What do you like about them? What sort of genres/series are you a fan of?

For me, I really like old-school and really unusual games. I like the Tales Of series, which is probably pretty obvious for anyone who's been watching me for more then a month or so. Some of my favorites:

Sonic 1 & 2 (Genesis)
Super Mario World (SNES)
Final Fantasy 6 (SNES)
Final Fantasy Tactics 1 (GBA) & 2 (DS)
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (GC)
Tales of Symphona (GC) & Tales of the Abyss (PS2)
Pikmin 1 & 2 (GC)
Kirby: Crystal Shards (N64)
Any Super Smash Bros game
Mario Kart Wii (Wii) & Mario Kart DS (DS)
Katamari Damacy (PS2)
Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)
Zelda: Majora's Mask (GC)

Oh jeeze, don't even get me started on laptop cords. I'm currently on my third one after having the computer for ... Two years? I think? I have TERRIBLE luck with these things. :/ At least you have a sister to bum the cord off of, I'm all alone. I hope you can get yours squared away.

Uugghhh sometime similar happened to my last tablet >_>;; (Except the difference between my tablet and your computer was my tablet was ancient :D;;; ) That must be really irritating though :/ But you're right, there's no reason it should be breaking that easily. I don't think my dad's had any problems with that happening to his charger, but what he -has- had a problem with is his laptop battery dying, so he has to have the charger plugged in all the time just so the thing can even work. (Which is bad because he has to travel all the time, and planes don't exactly have places to plug in your laptop >_>;; )

Oh man, I picked up A2 months ago, and I've had a blast with it :) Although I've already stopped playing, but that's just because of school and whatnot.

I think my most recent favorite game has to be Psychonauts for the PS2. It's bizarrely strange, and at the same time fun to play, and I haven't gotten into a game that much in a long time.
But yeah, I also like really unusual games. I adored Okami and Katamari, and even though I didn't get very far with it, I really liked Shadow of the Colossus. Beyond Good and Evil is another gem that not many people pick up. I also love the Pheonix Wright series. I adore most of what Nintendo creates because of the really weird nuances they usually throw in almost all their games that make you go "... what the heck? O_o" but it is sad that they haven't done anything -too- exciting as of late. I really want them to produce more adventure games or something for the Wii :| As fun as the sporty games can be when you're with a group of people, they're not as much fun when you're by yourself, but that's almost -all- you can find for the Wii, and it's really irritating :| I've found I've been buying more DS games than Wii games, which is unusual for me, because normally it's the TV system that I get more games for because the games are -usually- better than the handheld stuff.

thou must have a lot of faith to rely on a laptop battery D= x3 those things always corrode or wear away the quickest usually. Though, doesn't sound like it was manufactured very well if its falling to pieces after a year =o

I generally like any type of game, usually just something thats out of the ordinary and such though. Mah fav games of all time are Banjo-Tooie and -Kazooie, cause they are awesomeness incarnate and I think they have the best designed worlds in a platformer/adventure.
Skies of Arcadia: Legends, cause its pirate themed in the sky with big battleships and wacky characters. And the main guy is not angsty at all. Which is a plus for rpg's D=
Majora's Mask is the best Zelda ever. Simply can't top it I don't think, cause it was a good blend of main quest and side quest, with equal interest in doing both. Had good intrigue to it as well x3
Pikmin are pretty awesome too, looking forward to when Nintendo make the third one, and might get the remake their doing of the first.
Dark Chronicle I quite enjoyed playing as well for some reason x3
and I quite like the Ace Attorney games at the moment, cause I find it interesting how the murder was committed, who did it and why =o

Yikes, that's a lot of cords. Were you ever able to get one replaced for free? Like when it was still under warranty? My computer is less than a year old, so I'm hoping I won't have to pay a bunch for a new cord...
:iconskittycat:
They definitely need more good Wii games. I thought that Tales of Symphonia 2 would finally be the good, solid RPG that the Wii needs, but unfortunately... it sucked. They really need some RPGs, adventure games, or good platformers (modern Sonic doesn't count). They have a crazy number of sports games, thanks to the Wiimote's features, but they're rather short on amazing have-to-buy-it games.
:iconskittycat:
Well, so far the battery has proven quite hardy. I haven't had any trouble with it at all... but after hearing about laptop batteries going bad first from several people, I'll have to keep it in mind not to put unnecessary stress on it.

Oh yeah, Banjo-Kazooie! Those two games were some of the best things you could get on the N64. I can't believe I forgot them on my list! I loved those two... Played one of them for nearly 100 hours, I think. xD

Skies of Arcadia sounds cool. What's it for? I've never heard of that series before, but I'm open to trying new games, and that one sounds promising.

Majora's Mask was the best. Best Zelda game ever by far, I agree. I wish they'd make some kind of a sequel to it... with more transformations, the Wii's graphics, and motion controlled mini-games and aiming, that would be a pretty amazing game. Sadly, it seems to have more of a cult following... due to the extra memory pack thing it needed when first released, many people didn't play it until it was rereleased on the GC, if at all. :/

Oh yeah, I love Pikmin. xD Can't wait for the third game... I'll probably be buying that on release day.

I've never heard of Dark Chronicle before... What's it about?

And yeah, the Ace Attorney games I know everyone loves... I bought a copy of the first one a while ago, I just have to get around to playing it... seems like a cool series, though.

Sadly, no, because the original one didn't break until just AFTER warranty ran out, and the other two have been random ones from Ebay. The first only had a month's warranty and this new one has a year, so I'm hoping it'll either last me a good long time, or break before the year is up... preferably the former.

:iconskittycat:
That sucks... well, I hope my warranty is still good for mine. I didn't check how long it lasts...

About how much do they cost on Ebay? I heard that new ones can be upwards of 100 dollars... which... seems like a lot.
:iconlunar-draconis:
The ones for my computer cost $80 factory-direct, but the most recent one I got off of Ebay is the exact same thing, brand new, and I got it for $12 with free shipping. I must just assume Hewlett-Packard are price gougers. D:
