No, I'm not talking about the bot spam of a few weeks back.

Any of you guys had problems with DA giving you viruses? I've been having a near-chronic problem with Trojans the last couple weeks, and I've narrowed it down to DA as the culprit.

I've looked around and it seems there are others with the same problem, though those who either know it's DA's fault or speak out about it are few and far between.

Apparently, the problem lies in the ads. I got a redirect to a fake antivirus site today when I signed on. Shortly after AVG started giving me warnings about Trojan seeds on my computer.

I'm currently scanning with AVG, afterwards I'm going to try MalwareBytes and Spybot S&D with a side of booting on safe mode and delete on reboot. I really hope this fixes it. I just paid $60 to have my computer fixed, and $60 before that to fix the same problem, and $100 before that to fix the same problem. That's a fucking lot of money DA is costing me.

I did a bit of research, and DA's always been fairly clean up until recently. I don't know what changed, but they are not monitoring their ads AT ALL. Many of them are clean or can't harm you unless you click them, but a small number are drive-by Trojan downloaders, things that get you even if you don't touch them. And no, FlashBlock does not stop them from infecting your computer.

For the moment I'm going to stop going to DA so much with my computer. It's too expensive for me to keep paying every week or two for the problem to be healed. We have a spare computer, a "guest" computer which is already crawling with viruses, which I can use in the mean time. And I can go on during college, who cares if they get viruses or not.

Just so you guys know, I'm not, like, out to smear DA's reputation or anything. I made absolutely sure DA was the source of the problems before I said anything about it. I do love DA... it's one of my favorite sites. But the viruses are very costly. Browse here with caution until this gets fixed.

Yeah! I know what you mean. I've gotten a Trojan or two from dA before, and a little fake Anti-Virus window that pops up every now and then.

I haven't gotten anything from dA like that recently, but my Spyware/Antivirus software used to freak out if I left a browser open with dA in it for too long. It's like the ads would cycle through and just finally hit up one with viral particles.
Now, practically every damn time I look up lyrics both my Antiviral software AND the built-in warning in Google Chrome freak out, so I have to be really darn choosy with my lyric websites. That gets irritating too. >:

Ah, well, be careful anyway. I have numerous layers of antivirus and professional grade virus remover tools and I still end up with mine in the shop. x(
:iconskittycat:
Yeah, it put several Trojans on my computer over the months. Recently I've gotten the hang of removing them, more or less, on my own, but it's still worrisome.
